About
Deriva Sounds is an independent practice for research, development and creation in music and sound.
Purpose
To expand how people create, experience and understand music and sound.
The long-term idea is to build a practice where research, technology and sound can live in the same place — from studies and frameworks to software, tools, experiments, recordings and physical instruments.
Not every project needs to become a product. Not every piece needs to answer a research question. The connection is the practice itself.
Vitor Pinheiro

Researcher, musician and developer based in Rio de Janeiro.
My professional background spans research, R&D, product, operations and technical development.
I spent two years working in experience design and hospitality, researching how people behave, perceive and move through experiences. In 2026, I led R&D work for a Barcelona-based experience design practice, across audience and market research, behavioural research, trend intelligence and AI-assisted research systems.
Alongside that, I’ve been making music for around twenty years, primarily on guitar, and programming for around ten.
Deriva Sounds brings those areas into one practice focused on music, sound and experience.
